Books Are Fun
Reading Is an Endless Source of Entertainment
Aside from cats, books are my favorite source of entertainment. Only playing with my cat or walking with my Mom in our colorful, sunny city can be as much fun as reading. When I turn on my laptop and read a book, I am happy.
Mystery and crime are my favorite genre, but there are many more. Thriller, horror, true crime. Or past century authors like Kipling. Exciting novels from exotic places like the ancient Middle East or 19th century Paris. Or the roaring twenties in American big cities. Many authors of earlier times knew how to write.
My favorite generation of authors is the same like my favorite generation of people: boomers. Smart, sharp people. Patricia Cornwell, Stephen King, David Baldacci, they have elegant, eloquent writing style, exciting settings and characters, and their stories are riveting and complex. When I first read Cornwell - her 2008 book of the Scarpetta series, the book itself titled Scarpetta - I was literally shivering for Jaime Berger and Lucy in the ending scenes. I am always impressed by Cornwell’s rich language, too, and her dark atmosphere.
Thank goodness for books!
